Auto Essentials was founded by Richard Chronister, a veteran custom installer who has had a passion for the car stereo and mobile electronics industry since 1989. After working in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica & West LA, he moved out to the Thousand Oaks area to start his own shop. Although working for other shops had always been rewarding, (and frustrating at times too), he decided it was time to start a shop that focused on quality installations.

Auto Essentials originally opened its doors in 1997 under the name of Alarm Pros. At that time we were specializing mainly in quality hidden auto security systems. However, after almost two years of business, we decided it was time to expand and focus on the nature of the passion, CUSTOM CAR STEREO!

The shop was remodeled, displays were hand crafted, and the store began to build its strong reputation as the only quality car stereo shop in the Thousand Oaks area. We have always done the best work, put the customer first, and have maintained an honest and fair attitude about giving people the quality aesthetic and performance that they are after, at reasonable prices. After all, somebody had to do it, the chain stores certainly were not doing anything to merit the terms 'quality workmanship" and 'personalized service." At Auto Essentials we meet and exceed these goals everyday.
